Introduction [0100]
I wanted a pet game I could leave open in a browser tab, and I ended up at FrogAA. You adopt a frog, and it turns out the frog has a whole swamp to live in, with a gym and a fishing pond and a casino and a 3D world you can dig holes in.
Nobody seemed to have written a guide yet, so here's mine. It's for new frogs. If you've played for months you'll know most of this already, though you might find a corner you've never clicked on.
All of it comes from my own playing. The game gets updated, so if something here doesn't match what you see, believe the game.
Getting started [0200]
The game lives at frogaa.com. It's free and runs in your browser. Sign up, pick a Frog Name, then check your email to verify your account. Your Frog Name is your frog's name and your name in the game, so pick one you won't get tired of.
You start at your house, and the menu works as your map. On my first day I would:
- visit the Welfare Office, Battle Village, the Bank, the Docks and the Armory, then have your first battle
- do a set or two at the Gym
- go fishing
- visit the Adoption Center
- try things on at Warty's Wardrobe
- say hi in chat (frogs are friendly, mostly)

The gym and motivation [0400]
Pick a stat and start a set. A set is 10 reps, and each rep is a small timing challenge. The better your timing, the more you gain.
Sets cost Motivation, and each one costs more than the last: 10 for your first set of a stat, 20 for the second, 30 for the third. The count resets every night. Doing a set or two of each stat gets you further than five sets of Strength.
Important: if you stay away from the gym for about a week, your gym gains start to fade. Any training resets the clock. The fading only eats what you built at the gym. Your starting stats and the points you spent yourself are safe.
Levels and ability points [0500]
Battles and lots of other activities give you experience. Each level up gives you 5 Ability Points (AP) to spend on the stats listed above. Your max Lifeforce goes up too, and your Lifeforce refills to full, which is handy in the middle of a fight streak.
AP never fades the way gym gains do. I use mine on whatever stat I've been skipping at the gym.
Battling and confidence [0600]
You can fight other frogs as much or as little as you like. Every battle costs Confidence. When you run out, go do something else for a while and it comes back. Your weapon and armor make a big difference, so visit the Armory once you've saved some credits.
Money: credits, the bank, and Bytes [0700]
- Credits
- Everyday money. At first you collect a check from the Welfare Office each day, and later you move up to the Employment Agency. Battles and selling fish and items bring in credits too.
- The Bank
- Keeps your credits out of your pocket. They don't do savings accounts, and the sign explaining why made me laugh.
- Bytes
- The premium currency. Bytes never expire and buy special cosmetics, decorations and extras. You can buy them, but there are also ways to earn them free in the game.
Fishing [0800]
This is my favourite part of the game. So far I've only fished at the Riverbank, which is the easy place to start: you don't need a boat, and nobody expects a tip. Buy a fishing license at the Docks, pick up a rod, hooks and bait, and ask to be sent down to the riverbank.

Catch a few Bull Heads before you go after Char, since the Char want them as bait. There's at least one more fish down there that I haven't landed yet. I'm working on it.
The Smokehouse
Fish you don't want can be smoked into Smoked Fish Medallions. Rarer fish give you more, and there's no luck involved.
Where I haven't been yet
Past the Riverbank there's a canal, a pond, a lake and the ocean, and you need a boat for those. One day.
Pets [0900]
Your frog can have a pet of its own.
- Adoption Center
- Meet the pets and adopt one. Take your time choosing.
- The Den
- Look after the pet you have.
- Pet Store
- Food, toys and supplies.
- Fernhollow Boarding House
- If you're going away, Bramwell will look after your pet.
Pets grow up in stages, from Baby all the way to Elder, and get stronger as they level. They help out in fights, too.
Care works on one visit a day. Top up food and fun once and your pet is fine until tomorrow. The fancier supplies last longer, which helps on busy weeks.
Looking good [1000]
- Warty's Wardrobe
- Clothes and accessories. Buy pieces and mix them however you like. Your outfit shows up on your profile picture.
- Frog skins
- Your frog's base look. There are a lot of them: mossy greens, glass, chrome, fossil, lava, storm cloud. Mine is the dark one with the glowing spots.
Guilds and other frogs [1100]
- Guilds
- Join up with other frogs. A good guild is the fastest way to learn the game, because somebody always knows the answer. I'm in The Pondfathers.
- Chat and forums
- Ask questions and post your fish.
- Lily Pad Chapel
- Frogs can get married! The officiant has to be a frog who has studied a lot of Religion at the University.
- The University
- Studying unlocks things around the swamp, like the Robotics Lab and officiating weddings. Pick your subjects around what you want to do.
Minigames and time-wasters [1200]
- Lilypad Dive
- The mystical pond behind the Lily Pad Cafe.
- Hangman's Hollow
- Word guessing, good for a coffee break.
- Casino
- Gamble responsibly, little frog. Set yourself a budget; I learned that one the hard way.
- Lottery
- Drawn every night.
- Wishing Well
- Toss a coin in. I won't spoil it.
Places that are just fun to poke into
- Mama Mireille's Grotto
- A hut on stilts in the darkest corner of the swamp, full of incense and dried herbs, with something croaking in the shadows.
- Frogbert's Bog Bistro
- Everyone in here croaks in leet at top speed. Until you can keep up, they just talk about you.
- Hazy Holos
- A trading card shop with no cards in it yet. Ask about the order form.
The voxel world [1300]
I didn't expect this one. There's a whole 3D block world you can walk around in with other frogs, live. You can mine ore, place blocks, go into caves and dungeons, and fight monsters there.
Your stats come with you, so gym work pays off here as well. Take a friend the first time you go into a cave.
Questions people ask me [1400]
- Is it really free?
- Yep. Bytes buy extras, and you can earn some without paying. I played for ages without buying any.
- Do I need to download anything?
- No. It all runs in the browser, even the 3D world.
- My stats went DOWN. What happened?
- You skipped the gym for about a week and your gym gains started to fade. Do a set and the clock resets. See the gym.
- Why can't I battle anymore?
- You're out of Confidence. It refills on its own, so go fishing.
- Will my pet die if I forget about it?
- Visit once a day and it'll be fine. If you're going away, use the Fernhollow Boarding House.
- What's the best stat?
- Whichever one nobody else is training. (Panic.)
- Where are the rare fish??
- Nice try.
